MCPS Standings

MCPS 2019-20 Division Standings - updated 3/20/20
Each MCPS team is placed into one of four divisions every two years (this is the first of a two-year cycle). The MCPS teams play 8 games against division teams in an unbalanced schedule.

 4A North Division Standings 
1. Paint Branch (8-0) - DIVISION CHAMPIONS
2. Sherwood (7-1)
3. Blair (5-3)
4. Northwood (4-4)
5. Blake (3-5)
6. Springbrook (1-7)
8. Kennedy (0-8)

Paint Branch wins the division outright with a head to head win over Sherwood for their 8th consecutive title. Last year these to teams shared the title when the split head to head.

4A South Division Standings
1. Churchill (8-0) - DIVISION CHAMPIONS
2. BCC (7-1)
3. Einstein (4-4)
4. WJ (3-5)
4. Whitman (3-5)
4. Wootton (3-5)
7. Wheaton (0-8)

This is Churchill's second consecutive division title. Last year they shared the title with Whitman, but this year they won it outright.

4A West Division Standings
1. Clarksburg (8-0) - DIVISION CHAMPIONS
2. Quince Orchard (6-2)
3. Richard Montgomery (3-5)
3. Gaithersburg (3-5)
5. Northwest (0-8)

This is Clarksburg's second consecutive division title and second in school history.

3A / 2A Division Standings
1. Poolesville (7-1) - DIVISION Co-CHAMPIONS
1. Rockville (7-1) - DIVISION Co-CHAMPIONS
3. Seneca Valley (5-3)
4. Damascus (3-5)
5. Watkins Mill (1-7)
5. Magruder (1-7)

Poolesville & Rockville split head to head and share the division title. This is Poolesville's fifth consecutive title and Rockville's first title since 2001.

He led the Panthers to an undefeated division title and won the region, falling to Churchill in the Maryland 4A State Semifinals. MPSSAA Section Standings - Updated on 3/5/19 All MCPS schools are placed into an MPSSAA region for the state tournament, and all regions are divided into two sections.  The MCPS schools are spread across five different sections.  The teams' win percentage (not including December holiday tournaments) is used to seed the teams, regardless of what county they may reside. 4A West Region  Section 1 Standings 1. Churchill - 95.00% (19-1) 2. Whitman - 85.00% (17-3) 3. BCC - 66.67% (14-7) 4. WJ - 61.90% (13-8) 5. Einstein - 45.00% (9-11) 6. Kennedy -  4.76% (1-20) 7. Wheaton - 4.76% (1-20) Churchill is the favorite in the section and the region. They have beaten the top two seeds in 4A North Section 2 (Sherwood and Paint Branch), the co-#3 seed in 2A West Section 1, and the #2 seed in 4A West Section 2, in addition to defeating Whitman once and BCC twice within their own section.
