MPSSAA Section Standings - Updated on 2/25/19 All MCPS schools are placed into an MPSSAA region for the state tournament, and all regions are divided into two sections.  The MCPS schools are spread across five different sections.  The teams' win percentage (not including December holiday tournaments) is used to seed the teams, regardless of what county they may reside. 4A West Region  Section 1 Standings 1. Churchill - 95.00% (19-1) 2. Whitman - 85.00% (17-3) 3. BCC - 65.00% (13-7) 4. WJ - 60.00% (12-8) 5. Einstein - 45.00% (9-11) 6. Kennedy - 5.00% (1-19) 7. Wheaton - 5.00% (1-19) Churchill is the favorite in the section and the region. They have beaten the top two seeds in 4A North Section 2 (Sherwood and Paint Branch), the co-#3 seed in 2A West Section 1, and the #2 seed in 4A West Section 2, in addition to defeating Whitman once and BCC twice within their own section. This is an update to a mid-season post about who had played the toughest schedules .  As explained before, the MCPS schedule is basically set for all teams by the county.  Each team plays the other teams in their division in an unbalanced schedule (meaning they only play some teams twice) for a total of 8 games.  Then each team plays the other teams in their section.  Finally, their schedules are rounded out to form 20 games that the MPSSAA will use to seed the section tournaments.  The teams then play these schedules for a two-year cycle with the games being a mirror image for those two years (ie: Poolesville plays at Whitman in year one and then they play at Poolesville in year two). Teams can up to drop up to two MCPS games (they must declare it before the two years scheduling commences) to play private schools, Frederick County schools, or in tournaments like the She Got Game. Results are in for the quarterfinal games of the ISL Tournaments from Friday, February 22nd. The semifinals will be on Sunday at St. Stephen's and St. Agnes with the championship games on Monday at SSSA. Montgomery County teams are italicized. With their win over Sidwell Friends on Thursday, Georgetown Visitation earned a regular season co-championship (their 13th straight) and won a coin flip for the top seed.
